I stir fry mine in a pan with bacon, but if I were going to do it in a crockpot I'd wedge it so it doesn't disintegrate, then throw in a ham hock, salt and pepper. Cover it with chicken stock and let 'er rip.

I do the same, but use seasoning like I was making a slow-cooked corned beef.

1 cabbage - coarse chop
2 apples - peeled and diced
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup chicken broth
3 -4 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
onions - optional - 1 to 2 coarse chop

cook low for 6 hours

And my husband loves his German food so I'm generous with the mustard

Just plug it in outside. I love cabbage..but I NEVER cook it at the house because the smell is awful. I def cant imagine stewing it in the house for hours in a crockpot/
