Post The February SCOOP

The Charles County Department of Community Services February issue of The SCOOP is now available online at Charles County Government. Printed copies are available at your local senior center. The SCOOP contains news, special events, and trips especially for seniors.

There is still time to sign up for one of the many Valentine's Day celebrations scheduled at the local senior centers. The Indian Head and Waldorf Senior Centers will honor the occasion Thursday, February 9. Waldorf spotlights a favorite vocalist - Lorna Terry - followed by a delightful meal catered by Chef Bruce. The Indian Head Center will feature saxophonist Ginger with her husband accompanying her singing a tune. The day promises to be a Jazzy event full of surprises.

Nanjemoy and the Clark Senior Centers will celebrate Valentine's Day Tuesday, February 14. The Primetimers will offer another new original production "Somewhere over the Rambler." Far from the Wizard of Oz, this comedy shares the struggles the king and queen face as they adjust to the princesses returning home to live. This unexpected life change has them battling it out with no money, less space, and now a whole lot of mouths to feed. As they say, no one leaves home for good. The Nanejmoy Senior Center will offer tasty delights of chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels while listening to favorite love songs.

For information on events offered by the Department of Community Services, please visit Charles County Government, or call 301-934-9305 or 301-870-3388. Citizens with special needs may contact the Maryland Relay Service at 711, or Relay Service TDD: 800-735-2258
