Civil War Reenacting

Good mroning all! I used to be a Civil War reenactor and I am looking to get back into it. My daughter who is 8yrs old really wants to do it but I don't have any clothing for her. I am not a sewer BUT I am willing to learn. I have looked online for a dress but they are either WAY too expensive or it is just patterns. If soemone can either point me in the right direction or may have something you are willing to sell or help me learn how to sew I would greatly appreciate it. Her first event is May 12th. Thank you so much!!!

Surely your 8 year old daughter acquired her desire to do that from you, and as such you might try to consider the damage you are doing to your daughter in that action.

To reenact war is to glamorize war, as to make war to seem nice and fun and as grown-up or mature when it is not. And even more particular is to glamorize the Civil War which was the most barbaric and most uncivil of wars that our Country has ever had.

Your daughter learns from you which means that you are filling her mind with that ugly garbage and it is up to your self to stop your self, and then maybe you can reverse the damage already done to your daughter.

Reenacting

I have to agree that Cusic is a total moroon.
Kountza - Please don't let this jerk keep you and your daughter from enjoying a good hobby and helping to recreate history.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. To reply to the idiot that insulted me and my family I am NOT glamorizing ANYTHING! I was a history major in college and hold a bachelors in history. I love learning about the past and I have not pushed anything onto my daughter. She has a mind of her own and when I finally moved back closer to people I have known for years invited me back and she personally asked to go because she too loves history of all kinds. The past is the past nothing is pretty with war I agree. I am acutally a military spouse and I do not like war one bit but reality is it happens. It has happened in the beginning and will always happen. Maybe you should find something better to do with your time than putting down an 8 year old child and her mother whom you don't know from Adam!

No need to explain and justify yourself to him. He is out of touch with reality.

I don't know. How would you contact them? We just moved here a couple of months ago and I know there are Amish around but I don't know where to find there goods. I have wanted to buy some of there stuff. I loved it when I used to go to Lancaster with my parents when I was growing up.

JoAnn Fabrics might give sewing lessons.

Go to the flea market in Charlotte Hall tomorrow and ask around. There are always quite a few there selling their goods.
