Go buy a few bottles of regular, original, Pine Sol.

take strips of cloth or a teeshirt, and soak the strips in undiluted Pine Sol.

Take some wire cloths hangers, stick into the ground. ( some bending and reforming may be needed)
Drape Pine Sol soaked rags over hangers and place in areas where you do nto want groundhog to trespass.
Very few species of animal can stand the smell of pine Sol and will go away.
If you know where the dens are, place at enterance...they may leave and go dig a new home.

refresh rags every few days.

Another trick is to buy some maylar baloons and paint HUGE back round eyes on eace side...and using stakes, place in area...Huge eyes are the indication that a huge predator is about to eat the groundhog. This does not always work...

They are a family animal and you my have a family.
Dont kill or trap out till September..babies still dependent on momma or just wait till October when they go to ground till spring...then trap as they come out to look for mates.

If you can live with them,,then do so..they dont eat much and are a joy to watch.

Glad I found this thread. Look who I caught in my garden today. I'm going to need a bigger fence. He seems to like the black eyed susans.
