Help identifying a flower

Okay, I'm trying to find out what kind of flower we saw on our way back from SC this weekend. I don't have too much detail to share, but maybe someone can help me. They were pretty tall (about 24" maybe) and we mostly saw them in yellow, but saw some that were a creamy white color too. The flower was kind of a bell shaped, where the petals kind of curled back around at the ends so the edges were almost rouned, and it looked like there was only one flower per stem.

I hope someone can help. They were really pretty, but it was hard to get too much detail as they were in the highway medians and we were going by at 70+ mph!

Thanks for any help you can give!

What state did you see them in? Most states plant their state flower on the highways.

Sounds like daylilies. They're all over NC on the sides of the highway.

Ooooh.... that's them!!! I had no idea. Sorry it took me a couple of days to respond... I wasn't getting the email updates that said anyone had posted. I thought no one cared

We really thought they were pretty and want to plant some out by the pool. I'll have to google them and make sure they are something that will survive me (I have a brown -- not green -- thumb!)! Thanks!!!!!
