Need a Grill?

Been shopping around for a decent, low cost, charcoal grill.

Happened to stop in the Food Lion in Leonardtown Thursday. They had the Kingsford® KB800 Barrell Grills on sales at end of season close out price.

There normal price was $127.00. The closeout was 75% off so I got them at $34.00 each. I bought three of them. One for a buddy at work and two for myself.

Masterbuilt Kingsford Kb800 Barrel Grill, Food & Food Prep, Kingsford at Sportsman's Guide

Looking for a new gas grill at a decent price. Wait until they are on sale and everyone is trying to get rid of their summer stock. Want one of those big silver Webbers. ACE had one on sale for around $500. I'm patient, they drop the price when they can't get rid of it.

I just gave away my big Stainless Steel Char Broil a couple months ago. Decided to go back to Charcoal. Just like the taste better.

There is something to be said about the ease of gas though.

...the gas hook up. No wonder it was so cheap!

We bought a fairly nice grill from Lowes a few months back. It wasn't that expensive but when we use it it is no different then cooking on a gas stove!

I use my gas grill all year long. Don't care if it's snowing out, if I want to grill, I'm grillin. Now that I have the patio complete and furnished, I need a new grill to go with it.

Are we talking lump charcoal made from hardwood or them little briquette thingys?

Apart from polluting the air and the surroundings, burning of briquettes on the grills results in the release of greenhouse gases and indirectly contributes to global warming phenomenon. Some of the ingredients present in briquettes such as starch, nitrate and borax release harmful elements when exposed to high temperatures. If inhaled, these chemicals can cause respiratory problems and other related diseases.

Burning briquettes can be detrimental to the health of individuals because burning of charcoal results in the release of harmful hydrocarbons, free radicals and tiny soot particles that can result in the incidence of heart and lung problems.

Another problem that is associated with burning briquettes is that it results in the formation of two potentially carcinogenic compounds. These are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and heterocyclic amines (HCAs). Both these compounds are formed when meat is grilled on top of charcoal. These compounds are extremely harmful and increase the risk of pancreatic, colorectal and breast cancers.
