Range hood ?

My 25 year old oven is on its last leg. I am thiking it may only have a month to go (if I am lucky) So it is going to have to be replaced.

Does the hood above need to be the same width as the oven or larger?

The oven I have now is 30 inches wide, but there is enough space to put a larger oven if I were to find a good deal. I just want to make sure it doenst look retarded

Doesn't matter as long as they match.

Like brand or color?

I am googling and am getting conflicting things some are saying it should be 4-6 inches bigger than the actual range...but the hood that I have now (25 yrs old also) is the same width as the range.

Just get a microwave to go up there, and call it good!!

You probably want it to be at least the same size, so steam doesn't ruin the cabinets

I would think that the width of the fan isn't nearly as important as its venting features. You need a fan that has a kick ass motor in it so that it can eliminate smoke and odors from your house as efficiently/quickly/thoroughly as possible.

What type of stove/oven are you looking at? The manufacturers don't have to match on the stove/oven and the hood, but the finish should match.

I was thinking about that but I just got a brand new $200 microwave from a yard sale a few months back for $10

Honestly I havent even started looking yet. I cant do anythign until I get my bonus in February...and I am not sure how much that will be, the amount of the bonus will give me my budget. That is why I am praying it last until then other wise I will be screwed

So at the very least it needs to be the same size if not bigger than the oven and have a good venting features.

Hope you get a really really really really hefty bonus. You're going to need it.
