GW or Vince ...

I need some pellet stove advice.

My Qudra-Fire insert is blowing smoke out of the back of the unit on start up. I've applied new silicone around the transition from the stove to the vent stack but that was definitely NOT the problem. I'm hoping you guys might be able to give some advice on where to check and if a repair could be done by me without a huge out lay of cash.

The only other place I can think where that might happen is the combustion exhaust motor just prior to the stack outlet. There is a high temp gasket between the motor frame and the stove, it might be leaking.

On mine there is also a plate with a gasket underneath where the pot cleanout capture tray is. That could possible be leaking as well.

I can pull mine out far enough on the hearth to fire it up and see what is going on.

I can pull my stove out too, but there is so much air movement that I cannot pinpoint the source. I have a tech coming out on Wednesday, but I'll order the new gasket tonight and have it overnighted so it'll be here just in case that is the case. I just the stove serviced in early December and we didn't have this problem before then so I'm thinking (hoping) that it is something simple.

Blown out flue adapter gasket, $18.00 for a new one so I'll be getting at least 3 and a couple of blower motor housing gaskets, just to have on hand. Looks like an easy enough fix now that I can see how far out I can safely pull my stove.

I can't imagine that creating enough pressure to blow out a gasket. Maybe it wasn't seated or tightened correctly.

Glad it was just a gasket, nothing big.

Not blown literally. I'm thinking it wasn't seated correctly during initial installation and moving the stove to service it over the years just wore down one spot just enough to allow some smoke escape.

All good now.

Sorry, just saw this. Take some pictures next time. Never had that problem, but then I would have to smell it before I saw the smoke. Mine is tight against the fireplace brick.
