Yep, bright blue 2/3 of the way up, fish boarder, then bright green to the ceiling. Bright blue swirly tile floors. That was the kids bathroom. My kitchen in that house was that wine color and it got old quick.

Sorry Pixie.
You should have a painting party. And like you said, no alcohol until finished.

I have a great memory. Helps that I was the only sober one there.

I have plenty of brush/roller experience between the Navy and our house in NC.

It's easier to tape everything off first, then another day one person does the rolling and another the trim.

Trim takes longer so the roller dude can finish up and then help out trim dude in time for beer thirty.

Or if your by yourself, alternate coats between trim and roller.

Go room by room to break it up.

Make sure you have all the supplies in advance to keep the Lowe's trips at a minimum.

Satellite radio helps too.

Sorry I know that doesnt answer your question about how much to hire someone... do it yourself and be proud of the good job you did! Take the money you saved by doing it yourself and buy yourself something cool.

Check out this blog -- I love the kitchen design and the bathroom (brown with swirls). This gal has some very creative ideas. One of them is painting "back splash" to look like real tile.

I'm getting ready, and when I say getting ready, I mean working myself up to, painting my daughters room. I too hate painting, but promised her I would! Question for those experienced painters.... Do you roll the walls first, and then paint the trim, or paint the trim, and then roll the walls? I have to use tape, because I am just not that good at painting. I do it, but I don't like it! Also, anyone know, if your going to paint furniture, what paint type should I use?

When I am painting by myself I do the trim first, but that's just personal preference and I don't think it matters which you do first. It's the most tedious for me so I like to get it out of the way. I always use tape along the baseboards because I don't have a steady enough hand to go without. When I paint with my husband I'm the "trim dude". You'll do fine! We painted all of the rooms in our house at least twice and I did quite a few of them by myself. Just don't rush yourself and make sure you have a radio!
