The one I bought not long ago I picked because it had the largest capacity in the store. I forget the brand now, anyway it has no agitator (the thingey in the center that churns the water) it works by some other magic. Cleans fine, but the clothes, especially jeans come out a twisted mess. I'd stay away from that kind.

Get the one with the fewest settings/gadgets. I have a top loader with minimal settings.
Hot/warm/cold-large/medium/small-regular wash/gentle/and one or two others. I've had it for over 20 years.

Keep it simple...heavy duty and top loading. Lots of sales going on.

Hmmm...interesting. Someone else had suggested that style because it was great for getting blankets in.

It has a special setting for sheets and blankets. First time I did some I did not use it. When the load was done I opened up the lid and it looked like a large balloon had been inflated in there. Kinda weirded me out, it was a wth am I looking at moment.

that's why I got the one I did one year ago from Sears in California. No agitator. It is still packed FULL when I wash my King size comforter. I like the no agitator thingee. but like someone said it does tangle your stuff up and you need to shake them out before tossing into the dryer.

I would get the biggest capacity that you can.

You can't recommend any brand that is still going strong 20 years later. Things today aren't simply made to last like they were.

Recommend something that has done well for the past 5-8 years.
