Insulating garage door

Am insulating our garage door today, anxious to see if it makes a difference.

Lowes product called insulform, not available in the stores that i could find, ordered it from Lowes.com. Ordered 2 kits for a double car garage door. Reviews sounded pretty good so i figured i would give it a shot.

Shop Insulfoam 1-1/4-in x 1-3/4-ft x 4-1/2-ft Expanded Polystyrene Insulated Sheathing at Lowes.com

Make sure you seal around the foam and don't just put it in the door or the heat/cold will come right around it. Mine is a steel door, insulated with the same stuff and it makes a difference. I don't know if you have them but weather stripping all the way around the outside of the door also helps...

My door came insulated but there was still a draft at the sides. The installers put wood trim up against the door but it didn't keep the weather out. I used those 2 in 1 garage door strips and they work great! They look like white wood grain trim and they have the soft rubber edges that seat against the garage door to keep air out. I got mine at Lowes but I don't see them on their site. I'm sure you know which ones I'm talking about.

I never knew I could insulate my garage door, and I never knew a thread about that subject would make me laugh. Good job, guys! I am going to Lowe's tomorrow.
