Hanging a valance over a sliding glass door

I want to hang a valance over the top of my sliding glass door, with the purpose of covering the top of the vertical blinds. The problem is the hardware I bought does not stick out from the wall far enough to clear the blinds. Do they make some type of extenders for the hardware or does anyone have any suggestions on how I can hang the valance so that it clears the blinds?

It depends on what type of rod you already have. If you have a cafe-type rod, then you can purchase bracket extensions.

Buy Drapery Rod Bracket Extension, Drapery Hardware Extension Brackets from Bed Bath & Beyond

This is what I used to hang all of our valances. Works great over sliding glass doors, inexpensive and easy to install too!

White Curtain Rods, White Curtain Rod - Country Curtains®

I've used those. They will work unless the valence has a small pocket. She probably needs a 4" or so mount, maybe 3 1/2 would work.

I bet she already has a drapery rod and is trying to use that. I used a drapery rod over over my slider with rings hooks on the top so it would open and close easily, but I had a cornice and did not have a blind, so I wouldn't know what clearance is needed for sure

Valance? What's that?

Is that the contraption you hang a deer off of so you can gut them?

Or is it a gay creepy stalker from Virginia?

Know a couple people probably willing to help hang the second one. .
