Broken Shovel Handle

Have you ever tried to remove the handle on a shovel?
It took me almost 2 hours.
Dremel and oscillating saw helps.

Large drill bit straight down the center. It works.

Did that too and it helped, along with liquid Wrench
It is well forth saving. It is a 50 year old Razor-Back.

Now I just need to find a good hickory handle.

Good job DW, have done that before with some old tools inherited from my wife's grandfather, don't even know the name of them but they work great, and going to the store have not seen anything quite like them. Was def. a pain in the a$$ getting the handle out.

The old timers would burn them out. Now, to replace, make sure you dry the new handle in a warn low humidity place for a few days, then warm the shovel. Once the shovel cools and the handle absorbs moisture from the air it will be super tight! BTW if you have tools with loose handles, axes, hammers, matocks, etc soak them in a bucket for a day.
