Gardening in February

Got up to refill my tea cup, came back and saw a picture....

For new gardeners - I find this step as important as anything done outside when gardening.

Planning the garden. Tracking what seeds you have. Ordering what seeds you don't. Figuring what goes where in your garden. And finding the best deals.

But I'm not planting anything until I'm sure all the mole/voles are dead. I'm positive they've ate all my bulbs.

The voles seem to eat all my bulbs except Daffodils and Irises.

Well, one thing about down here, for sure: Gardening, lawn cutting and yard/flowerbed maintenance never end. We're on our second bloom of the azaleas, the bougainvillas are eye-popping, orchids in and out of the house if it gets below 50, peppers and tomatoes still rocking, and the lemon tree is very lemony.

Whatever happened to winter this year?

Can hardly wait until things start growing again.

Well at least I might have those then. I know they've ate my daylilies and stargazer lillies. Their tracks run right to them.

And making sure to move things around, rotating crops so that you don't replant the same thing in the same spot every year. Helps slow down nutrient loss and disease.

Yepper, they seem to really like Lillies, Tulips and the roots of many of my vegtable plants.
