Snakes/hibernation

Just wondering as its getting near that time of year and this weekend its suppposed to warm up, do you think there will be any snakes coming out of hibernation? I ask because I'm terrified of snakes and wanted to take my metal detector into the woods... is it too sooon? Has anyone seen any yet? TIA

From what I was just told they won't be out for a while yet and I read they won't be out until spring, the first warmest day or close to that. Then they will travel 1/2 mile or 5 miles to mate.
