You say there is nothing to do.

King's Corner

Nothing to do this summer? Try this one out, it is a little different and definitely something that can be a lot of fun without having to go too far off the beaten path.

Quote:
This July will mark a quarter century of partying for charity by a group known as the Bucksnorts. There had been 18 parties under the “official” Bucksnort banner and now we are on the 7th party conducted by the Bucksnort Preservation Society (Bucksnorts that didn’t want the parties to end when the organization folded). We call this event the Moonlit Charity Ball.

What started as a bunch of people looking to just throw a summer party has turned into an anticipated annual event for many in the area (as well as many returnees from all over the nation). A weekend of fun that became a philanthropic effort. All profits made by the events over the years have been donated to various civic organizations to assist them in their endeavors. This year we will be donating all proceeds to Hospice, join us in helping them out and have some fun doing so.

The event will be July 29th and 30th at Seaside View Campground in St. Inigoes. The cost is $30 a head, advance sales or $40 at the gate ($30 for Saturday only). Ticket sales will kickoff on 9 July at the Hole in the Wall in Hollywood. There will be a band and snacks for those attending and if you buy a ticket the cover charge is being waived.

For the $30/$40 ticket to this BYOB event you get two nights of camping with others seeking fun, There is one planned hospitality site that will have tapped beer for visitors as well as other refreshments (jello shooters, jungle juice, much Crown Royal).

On Friday evening we will open the gates at 6:00PM (you can arrive early and set up camp, anytime after noon) with a shredded BBQ chicken feeding at 7:00PM. From 8:00PM till Midnight we will be entertained by 9 Day Bender, there will be 50/50 raffle and other drawings throughout the weekend. After the band finishes things usually wind down with subtle socialization.

Saturday will start-off with Java and a BLT bar from 9:00am to 11:00AM. Around 10:00AM music will get going with Bottom Country Bluegrass until about 1:00PM, a surprise band will play from 1:00PM till 3:00PM with a hotdog lunch from 2:00PM to 3:00PM. The next music will be the New 25th Hour playing from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. From 7:00PM to 8:00PM we will be serving the traditional BBQ pig dinner (bring a covered dish to share). And then at 8:00PM until Midnight Tin Pan Alley will finish off the scheduled activities and lead into some impromptu playing with an open acoustical jam session. Sometimes it's really good, but mostly it's funny as heck.

Sunday morning, to help shake the cobwebs out of your heads, Seaside View hosts an all you can eat breakfast for a modest fee at the marina cafe.

I've been doing this for 18 years now and have had nothing but fun at each and every one of these parties I have been to. It's a great way to meet new and interesting people or see some old friends, have fun, and help out the community all at the same time. It is something that you don't want to miss. Hope to see a bunch of you there.

If anyone has any questions I am sure I can field them from my own knowledge or I will find the answer for you, post them here or PM me.

Don't think so, I have a woman. Maybe one of the other forumites will speak up and offer to escort you.

Cool...close to home. Where is this campground? I've never seen it around here.

It's off of Rt 5 about a mile south of the Beechville/Chisleytown Rd intersection. Back behind Cardinal Gibbons Park. I believe that the road is even called Seaside View Rd.
