My two dearest girlfriends (one who lives in FL and the other in CA) dropped everything in their lives to meet me in DC for a weekend, without notice, when I was having big marital problems. It still makes me tear up to this day. I have known them since kindergarten and knew we could rely on each other, but this was amazing to me.

I had a friend who did several unselfish things....once he drove up from Mechanicsville to Waldorf to bring me a cup of coffee at 7-11 before I picked up everyone for the vanpool - 11 years ago?

I have a group of 3-4 friends that I know what do anything for me and who I would do anything in turn. When I forgot to pay my mortgage and they offered to lend me money to pay it, even though I didn't need it, their generosity touched me. They have offered to watch my kid for me just because and I know they would be there for him at the drop of a hat. There are too many nice things to name that they have done for me. And I hope they can say the same thing about me.
