I have applied and been interviewed for over 5 secretary positions and EVERY TIME someone related to someone has gotten the job with the same level of skills. One time I had many years more experience.

I thought at first maybe it was just me and since the last 3 years, I find out one out of two people I meet have had the same problem.

I moved here never having trouble getting or keeping a good job.

Unless you are a teacher with a Masters degree St. Marys County Public schools are totally unfair.

Also I am qualified to substitute in a secretary position even long term but not hired being told I did not have the qualifications someone else has... odd eh?

I encountered a similar situation when I moved here 5 years ago.
Hence why I work from home, and telecommute for the company I work for now.

When I first moved here, I ended up going the fast food restraunt route.
I hadn't worked in a restraunt since high school..(um a long time lol), and I apparently didnt "speak the same language" as some of the folks so around here. ( No, I'm not a foreigner, I'm from the midwest...) Alot of the customers told me I was too nice, and they could understand what I said when I talked. I eventually obtained the job I have now, and was glad to get out of the "you want fries with that?" job. LOL.

My husband has no problem, of course, he works on base....as his career involves what the base is geared towards... so finding employment was more of a challenge for me.

When we post openings for entry level secretarial or receptionist duties we get flooded. Last time we had over 250 applicants.

That doesn't surprise me at all, considering that they've reduced the secretarial pool down to nothing, and are now making the engineers do that stuff.
