Nepotism in Southern Maryland

Has anyone else noticed how hard it is in Southern Maryland particularly with the St. Marys County School system for an outsider to get a good job?

I have applied and been interviewed for over 5 secretary positions and EVERY TIME someone related to someone has gotten the job with the same level of skills. One time I had many years more experience.

I thought at first maybe it was just me and since the last 3 years, I find out one out of two people I meet have had the same problem.

I moved here never having trouble getting or keeping a good job.

Unless you are a teacher with a Masters degree St. Marys County Public schools are totally unfair.

Also I am qualified to substitute in a secretary position even long term but not hired being told I did not have the qualifications someone else has... odd eh?

I feel your pain, trust me. I also know others who have the same problem, including myself. Getting a job in Southern Maryland is so hard it's unbelievable. I have started to look outside of Southern Maryland and I will go wherever the job is. Good luck.

Maybe people from St. Mary's are just alot smarter than you. Where are you from? Maybe the people that get hired are qualified secretary's and not just substitutes.

I don't think it's anybody's business what people do with their relatives after they die.

Where ever home was, the qualifications were in her favor. Now southern MD is home, and the quals aren't as significant compared to others. I had no problem finding a job when I moved out here. I found people that did/do the same thing I do and started talking to them. 3 years later, and still getting promotions. It can't be that difficult.

We can't get enough people at my work. We need electrical techs and other mechanical techs though. Does it just seem to be your field of work?

I moved here from Baltimore, I have been a professional secretary for over 10 years. I have managed a business and was a honor student. Graduated from a Bible School.
