| I've called them a few times trying to find out if and when it was going to be here in the park. They don't even have plans to move it in to this area anytime that they can see on the computer. I was like WTF??? We are a growing and very busy area right next to a major military installation and you don't think it would be worth your while to bring it out here. I don't think whoever is doing their research knows their head from a hole in the ground but that's just me. ![]()

| If that is the case then it would be down here...Imagine ripping up all the roads and whatever else to run the cable down all streets, to each house. |

| Estimates are the cost to Verizon ranges between $650 to $9000 per house to wire up FIOS (yes, I know that is a big difference, but you can see here for more details): Will Verizon's Fios plan kill off the company? | Computerworld Blogs Needless to say, the more houses on a street and the more fiber in place the more likely the rollout will be. I think also because FIOS can deliver cable tv, there are issues with local ordinances that grant tv monopolies to certain companies. FIOS could threaten those laws / contracts so in some places Verizon may have to wait for some changes in the law |

| I have a friend who is a Fios tech for Verizon and he told me right now that they are taking care of huge counties like Balimore and PG. He said that they do plan on making their way down to SOMD but it will not be untill 2009 to 2010. Verizon is so backed up in those counties that they are sending tech in from Penn. and other states to fill the back orders. Like Penguin6 said it is very expensive for them to hook up! When they do make it down here say bye bye to comcast and metrocast! Also they will not have to rip up the road that fiber is already installed on phone lines its just a matter of getting it to a box that is mounted on the side of your house. |
