Outlook Peachy for Maryland's Peach Crop

It's peach-pickin' time in some parts of Maryland, and the crop is expected to be large.

The U.S. Agriculture Department says Maryland growers will harvest 10.5 million pounds of peaches this year. That's a 50 percent increase from last year's drought-shriveled crop.

Growers in Montgomery and Cecil county report that early varieties are now available.

Further west, growers in the Catoctin Mountain fruit belt say it'll be a few more weeks before their peaches are ripe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where's the best place in Southern Maryland to get some local peaches?
As soon as I can. I might just take a 3 day and go. I am dreadfully homesick, and I was last down in January!
