Don't forget, by 0900 Bob was already walking around in a field pretending he was a tank.

It was never fun to begin with. I always wondered why we were forced to run. Realistically, how far can you run on a sub?

Yep, thanks to Carter, did get to do that for awhile..

But tanker was my secondary job, so didn't have to do it too much. Those were the days of the dinosaurs too..

Army we had our first formation of the day at 0545.. Reveille and Colors at 0600... than PT for 1 - 2 hours, with work formation at 0830 or 0900

Than another formation at 1645 followed by Retreat and To the Colors at 1700..
The Navy got smart a long time ago and decided we don't need to PT as much as the Army or Marines because we can just shoot missiles over the horizon to kill the enemies in the comfort of an airconditioned room instead of hiking over the terrain with a 50 lb or so backpack.

BTW, by 1645, Navy guys would have cold beer in their hands already, except of course if you're on a ship.

Kind of enjoyed it prior to enlisting.. the peace, quiet, solitude..

Now? I'll run to my car in the Lowes parking lot if it's raining outside.

Who am I kidding, no I won't, I'll still walk and just get wet..
