Yes, always have something else to do, plus..you'll have to hang out at different places at least for a while so you don't run into them as much.

Aside from avoiding them, take a class or find something else that interests you to keep from hanging out at the same places.

What's so hard about just telling them the truth? I guess I've reached a point in my life where I have no problem telling people who I don't want to hang with or "be my friend" that their behavior is unacceptable and not welcome in my life.
