Because it's an unnecessary confrontation. If they're your very good friend, that's one thing. You should definitely be comfortable enough to say, "Yo, chica - WTF?" But if it's just casual running buddies, making a big deal out of it is a pointless waste of time. Just fade away.

I guess that's where we differ. I'd rather them know WHY I'm not hanging around them any more versus being bothered periodically and letting it drag on with the inevitable "but why are you ALWAYS busy" type question that is bound to occur.
