Ohhh. Fossils around here! Must get more info on this for some spring time fun!! Thanks.
We went ATV'ing in North-Eastern PA this past spring and on one of the stops in a coal slag dump the boy got off his ATV and was messing with rocks. He found a piece of shale with a perfect imprint of a fern leaf, it is about 2 inches long.

He wanted to bring it home so we had to wrap it up in a rag and secure it in one of my storage compartments. It made it all the way home and he was so proud of it.

Calvert Cliffs State Park is a GREAT place to do hunting for things here locally in SOMD.
