Local School Fundraiser legit or not?

I was outside today and a kid came up to me and said "Hi I'm and my school is taking donations to help people with bad hearts and diseases, would you like to donate"

At worst its a kid trying to get some cash and at best its a kid that is doing a really poor job trying to collect money.

Thoughts?

It is legit. Last year it was Jupe rope for Hearts or something like that, this year I think it is hula hooping. It is for the American Heart Association.

It is still Jump Rope for heart for the American Heart Association. Good cause.

Sounds like the kid is doing a terrible job of representing the AHA or could be some SCAM for some free money. I would like to think he was collecting for a real charity.

I know Margaret Brent is having a healthy heart fundraiser. I forget the exact name, but the kids play basketball for it and they have to collect pledges.

call the local school and ask, but if the kid is out collecting money all by themselves doesn't sound right to me.
