Mountain Lion/ Large Cat in Southern MD

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of any large cats / mountain lions sightings in the Port Tobacco/Charles County/Southern MD area.

My husband saw something yesterday that he describes as long and tan coloured, with a long tail, and being bigger than our dog - we have a large boxer. And it definitly wasn't a dog as it moved like a cat!

We live in Port Tobacco on a large farm with not many houses, less than 10 probably, and there's alot of woods around us, and alot of deer to - if they were there they'd have plenty to eat!!!

Anybody any info or opinions on this???

I've read several instances of 2 large cats in the Southern Maryland area. I'm sure that they could thrive here as the deer and rodent populations are abundant. They more than likely would not bother humans unles provoked. More than likely, if they got hold of a cat or dog, the owner would assume they ran away and would never see them again.

As to how they have crossed roads without a sighting, the only thing I can figure is that they are smart enough to wait for traffic to be non existent.

When I was a kid we had a summer "cabin" in the panhandle of WVA. Hardy county. I remember at night the mountain lions or cats would sound like a baby screaming. We would hide under our beds its was so horrible. Go outside at night or this summer when you leave the windows up take notice. I don't know if its a mating thing or just howling but I remember it after all these years.

A fiend of mine said he saw one in Laplata about two years ago. I didn't see it but he took a cast of the paw print, we googled it and it "looked" the same.

Bobcats make a sound like that. It probably wasn't a mountain lion.
