Need a family doctor in St Mary's County

Just moved to St Mary's County. Could anyone recommend a family doctor?
I live in the Chaptico area. Dr Guazzo office would be very convenient for me. Any recommendations?

Dr Cafferty if you want to travel to Chancellor's Run road. He was over here in Lusby but left :( He was our doctor for 7 years and my kids love him. I am still undecided if I am going to switch over to him or stay with Dr Nasr who he was with.

It was good to see someone else recommend Dr. Cafferty. We live in northern Calvert but heard about him and have recently started to go to him for some unique health issues. I just saw him yesterday and am impressed. He is very thorough and I was very comfortable talking to him. My first impression was very favorable. The only down side is that you may have to wait a while to be seen. I was warned about this and I wasn't seen for quite a while after my appointment time but he does come across as a doctor who doesn't just treat you like another routine patient. Whle I was in the waiting room, a man showed up without an appointment. The receptionist was very friendly and said " no problem." We'll squeeze you in. This was on a Friday afternoon around 4:00 with 3 people already in the waiting room. That was cool.

When him and Dr Nasr were together I never had a problem getting a same day appointment. I haven't been so lucky and Dr. Nasr's since Cafferty left and the wait is long there to. He is a very good doctor. Most other people I know use pediatrictians for their little ones, but I always used cafferty and he has been great. My son adores him and the game Dr. Cafferty plays with the light on the wall. I had to take him to the dr the other day and he was disappointed the "light doctor" wasn't there.

Now I'm disappointed. He didn't do the light on the wall thing while I was there.

Jennifer Schmidt
Chesapeake Family Health Care
40900 Merchants Ln
Leonardtown, MD 20650
(301) 997-0322

Dr. Schmidt was not taking new patients when I called, so I see a nurse practitioner named Marie. I love this place because when I call, I get to speak to a person AND they all speak english.

I also have a friend that has been seeing Dr. Schmidt for about a year now and he loves her.

I loved doctor Schmidt but unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover her anymore so we stayed with dr. James boyd. I like him as well and his nurse practitioner Christine Rawlings. phone number 301-862-3721 they are located in leonardtown next to the hospital

I have been seeing Dr. Guazzo since Dr. Patrick passed away years and years ago. He's okay. I have recently found a new doctor that is closer to my home, but wouldn't rule out Guazzo. He's not my favorite, but he's sufficient. He's getting up there in years though.

We were with Nasr's office until Dr. Cafferty went over to St. Marys. I stayed with Nasr but the girls migrated with Dr. C. He is very good and am considering making the switch as well. From what I've seen with his treatment of my daughters and wife, he if first class, they just love him and I appreciate the way he treats my girls. They have had some health issues over the years and he has been on spot with all there treatment.
