Just like I didn't grow up wishing I'd grow up to be a management analyst but a ballerina. I guess by your logic I can give myself a big ol' pat on the back since I work for a DoN office that is responsible for DoN employees getting paid. I doubt federal fire fighters would show up to work if they didn't get thier paychecks. What exactly is an "every day" person because if I've learned anything from my extensive experience it's they're people just like everyone else.
No one ever said that people were all the same. Not everyone choses to be something because their daddy was. LOL! For some it IS a calling. If woking for a DoN office is what you do for a living, you chose it, you make a difference, right? Who would show up to work without getting paid? I will tell you this, you have to want certain jobs...because your heart is there, not because of the pay. We obviously have different opinions, which is fine, everyone is different, right.

I work for the DoN because when I was 20 I needed more than the $8 an hour I made working at a vet's office. My heart was with the puppies but it wasn't paying the rent so my head took over. I do make my own little difference in the world, bigger to some than others but I don't run around expecting everyone to bow down to me because of it.

For the record I don't believe the original post to be anything short of horse$hit and a lame attempt at cop bashing BUT your first response/rant back to it was almost as rank. I have a ton of respect for what you do; there was a time in my life where I even considered it but the advancement opportunities doing what I do won out BUT I have a completely equal amount of respect for my kid's teachers. That's a job I wish on no-one.

I also realize that your first response was probably emotionally charged due to feeling as if your profession was being attacked.

You are absolutely right. Everyone is a hero in their own way. I never discounted that. I am not looking to give anyone props for something they chose, I am simply stating that this particular profession gets bashed on a regular basis and there is a serious lack of understandig and appreciation. As someone previously stated, it's the daily thread of police bashing. The original post was never about driving, it was about how the police wrong people. Not everyone has an opinion while at the same time truly understands what is involved. That was all I was saying.

Snort!!

You said a hell of a lot more than that.

The attitude you've espoused here is the reason some citizens resent law enforcement officers. They see this attitude in an officer, and assume that many others share your opinions and attitudes.

(In my Matthew Perry/Chandler Bing voice) Can you possibly backpedal any faster?
