Let me be the first to tell you that unless you are the police or a spouse of the police, you will never understand what this job entails and how much of a sacrifice it is. We leave our families in the middle of the night to protect yours; will miss the opportunity to open presents on Christmas morning with our children and family so that the man that is still drunk from the night before does not cause an accident hurting someone else’s loved one on such a joyous morning. Every time we gear up to go out on duty, our spouses and children understand what we are up against. You put on your pants and shoes; we put on a bullet proof vest and a gun. Your job requires you to work overtime, our job requires us to stay out late to risk our lives for an individual who is strung out on crack and is combative, threatening our lives and the lives of or families and children. Of course the story you hear is that this poor middle aged woman did nothing wrong….just like the average poor old middle aged person was only holding those drugs for a friend... little do you know he was about to offer them to your teenager. Let me be the first one to tell you, there are FAR MORE important things happening around here than a middle aged woman running a stop sign. WAKE UP! We are surrounded by rapists, child molesters, murderers, drug addicts and prostitution, therefore; it is highly unlikely that an officer is going to pull a woman out of her car and arrest her for something so minor while there is a drug deal or a murder taking place right around the corner. So the next time you see or hear of something like this, ask yourself….’do the facts fit the theory?’ If the answer is ‘no’, as it is in this case, leave it alone. So typical that the kind of person that writes these kinds of things are the very ones who call someone in for speeding on a back road and then flash their lights for them to slow down when a speed trap is set to protect others. Or one who bashes the police but is quick to call them to their aid. For the little bit that the police are paid for the great sacrifice that is made, I have ZERO tolerance for ignorance such as this. Now, I am truly sorry if the truth has offended any of you, however, this is where I stand. Don’t bash it unless you understand it….and you don’t understand it until you have lived it. So go ahead and talk all the smack you want...but when you are in need of help, who do you think is responding when you ask for assistance from the police when you call 911? Think about it.

With that being said, perhaps YOU are the one who owes the MSP an apology.
Cry me a freaking river...

Are all cops dipsticks?

Of course not. But, there are some who let the badge get to their egos.

My fiance's father is a DC police officer. My best friend is a cop. A lot of my former military buddies are cops.

I don't see cops importance to society any greater than that of a teacher, nurse, or mailman...

They all have a job to do...

The attitude you've espoused here is the reason some citizens resent law enforcement officers. They see this attitude in an officer, and assume that many others share your opinions and attitudes.

And they see stories like the original post and think that the police is and unfair and unjust. There is no winning. I certainly didn't mean to come off with an attitude, but it is extremely frustrating that cop bashing is a regular thing these days. Especailly when everything you say is picked apart. Perhaps that is why some officers do have an attitude...

I don't really think she just read this one thread and decided to go all bad ass on everyone for no reason. I'm pretty sure she's been around to read the daily threads of what the heck they did wrong today threads. Heck if I was a popcorn salesman and every day almost there were threads and links and news stories bashing popcorn salesmen I'm sure I'd have a little attitude as well. You and I both know that policmen aren't exactly everyone's fave people, she was simply defending and standing up for that.

So let this be your lesson luggy and all those that told her she was was being a little too #####y/over the top - don't you ever , ever ,ever bash ####ing popcorn!

I must be reading different threads than you do. Other than certain obvious tards, most of what I see is supportive of LE.
