Sterotyping at the Bus stop...

I couldn't help to compare two behaviors of kids waiting at 2 different bus stops I get stuck behind on the way to work:

a) Calvert Cnty...Bus pulls to a stop with lights. 2 kids bolt across the road and load up. Bus accellerates,...15 seconds passed.

b) PG Cnty...Bus pulls to a stop with lights. 8 kids ( 30 yards from the corner)
look at the bus, have no books or book bags...saunter/swagger across traffic and painfully slowly load into the bus....3 minutes passed.

Both were Middle/High school students....the only noticeable difference?
Race.

If I am an employer/business owner stuck behind a bus-----who might I show more interest in hiring in two months when they come looking for summer work?
I want someone who will be on time, greet customers properly, dress presentably, be aware of how urgent situations are, and be quick to follow directions....hmmmmm. Tough choice here.

Why would kids from Calvert and PG Counties be applying for the same job?

I'm sure it's a great thing for bosses to stereotype potential employees based on race.

So.. I'm feeling here that you might be providing limited transportation into PGCo. for summer help this year?

That's not what was said. It was said that only noticable difference in the students was race.

"I want someone who will be on time, greet customers properly, dress presentably, be aware of how urgent situations are, and be quick to follow directions....", this is the potential employee the boss is looking for. Race is not mentioned.

It wasn't based solely on race it was also based on the timely manor of the calvert students getting on the bus.

Thats not the point.... The point was the different "attitude" of the youth...

I've seen the same phenomenon with street crossing.

If I'm crossing the street - parking lot - etc. and a car is waiting - I'll speed up because I know I hate when someone just saunters across.

But, I've seen all races do it.

I've also seen all races take their sweet ass time.

But, the majority of people that take their time - then give me a look like I don't care if you're waiting are the TPT's.
