I loved seeing all of the animals! Just respect the wildlife...I remember a group of people standing about fifteen feet from two baby bears taking pictures!

Anywho, I wouldn't say that I'm really cutting back as much as I am being more efficient. I'll still go out, but I try to get more done in one trip. I've heard of people cutting off their entire engine downhill just to save some gas...is that even safe?!
yeah, we did it as a family in 1970, dad took two months off to pull the camper across country, did the whole top half on the way across, then down through California (Disney) and back across the southern route through the grand canyon texas and all that.

I however, do not have the time or the money that Dad must have had back then so, Im going across, doing a week in YellowStone/Grand Tetons, then coming back basically the same way.
sucks to be poor.

If you're referring putting the car in neutral and coasting down hill, it's not as dangerous as it used to be. The problem was relying on your brakes during an extended downhill run could cause them to fade (become less effective).

Turning the car off will remove any power assist to the brakes or steering and allow the steering column to lock in a turn. Not a good plan.

My dad used to do that, back in the days of rationing. He had a name for it...

Mexican Overdrive ? I think that was it...

It's actually illegal in Maryland. Isn't that stupid?

I was riding with a guy in a car coming down off of Mt Palomar. Nice bike road by the way. He turned off the key and at the first turn.....
