The only person who has "lined pockets" is Miss Leight who owns the ADF bingo hall. The last I checked, she charges a charity $1,500 per bingo session to have bingo at her hall. She runs up to 13 sessions of bingo a week - that's $19,500 per week, $78,000 per month, or $1,014,000 per year in rental income alone. Plus she gets profit on all the food, and probably the pull tab games which far outweigh that hefty rental income. Gerald Donovan holds one of only 3 legalized gambling licenses in Calvert County, so when you support his gaming machines, you know he is the one to profit. At ADF, it is a huge cover up as to who is the one making the profit as they constantly push out how much they give back. Maybe they need to also disclose how much they charge in rent, how much they make in food, and how much they keep from the profit on every box of tabs they sell, and then the community will see why that crooked operation is showing up on the news - and I'm sure you'll be seeing them on the news in the near future too!

From the rental income you also have to subtract, utilities, wages, supplies, mortgages, and of course taxes and licenses. Obviously you have an ax to grind with the ADF owner or you wold just rather that the owner of the Rod n Reel continue feeding the corruption in Annapolis.

I was told that the Sherriff sent out letters asking places to turn off or unplug the machines and that is separate from the bill which has yet to go into effect. If the ADF left the machines on and they were seized then they would have cause to sue. If they chose to abide the sherriff they could not sue.

The letter is supposedly seperate from the legislation slated to go in to effect on July 1st, but the letter did threaten criminal prosecution if the business did not voluntarily shut down the machines. That last bit is directly from Sheriff Cameron's own mouth on Friday when asked by the judge to describe the letter he had sent to each of the businesses.

Per both the State Attorney and Sheriff Cameron, there is a concern with the legalized gaming machines causing too much of a workload for both offices and that was part of the reason they wanted them shut down.

I have a problem with ADF acting as if they are the be all end all of charity support in St. Mary's County, and I have a problem with deception. The Rod and Reel is honest and doesn't use the charity front for their benefit - they are outright honest in the fact the individuals benefit, not charities. No, I don't think they should be able to having gaming machines when others can't - that is totally unfair. But my problem is with years and years of ADF getting away with using charities for personal gain. Yes, they give, give, give. But they also get, get, get, get, get.........and that is not right!

And what's this about wages? St. Mary's County bingo law states that no individuals are supposed to be paid with the exception of a bingo caller. Oh yeah, that's right, ADF workers get paid (and receive benefits) because "they work in the kitchen." I guess all those invisible ovens and serving trays on the bingo floor and at the front counter where people come in to pay for their bingo cards are part of the ADF kitchen! How silly of me???? "Tonight's special on the ADF kitchen menu" - a book of bingo paper, 2 bingo daubers, and 15 bingo ball pull tab tickets. All coming from the kitchen, served by paid workers. RIGHT!!
