We went off of one in Myrtle Beach - horrible trip... we did catch fish but like you, I would rather fish from shore.

oh haha. head. boat. ok. yea, im a little slow this morning. and btw. to me, fishing is fishing. it doesnt matter to me if its 'sport' fishing, shore fishing, fishing in a pond with a bobber and little hook. Ive just been going to my usual 9! spots from docks and shore up and down the patuxent, everyday for the past two weeks, (even a trip to Susquehanna State Park) and have caught one little cat and 2 perch. Needless to say i am a little disappointed at the moment. I dont usually have this much problem this early in the season...and yes..for all the curious, I paid 39 and some change for my baysport and non-tidal license this year.

The fishing will pickup, the weather's been so damn contrary and unsettled lately it's ridiculous. Not all head boats are as bad as Bay_Kat makes them out to be BUT that is a risk you run especially when you are close to PG, MoCo and DC. Try looking around in St. Mary's, I'm sure that Crow Bait can give you some inside info.

That was my thinking. Wow, I want to go out on this trip now just because the captain must be awesome to have thought up boat names like that for head boat trips

Anywho, never done a headboat down here, have done a couple ocean headboat trips (going out further than I'd expect in st. mary's) in ocean city and I THINK I did one in Myrtle beach but I can't for the life of me remember. I don't think we ever had an unproductive trip It was fun, but personally it didn't do THAT much for me because I prefer to really fight the fish (this was sea bass fishing btw) instead of just trying to get it up as fast as possible (you're using heavy tackle too...so its not like they were really going to break the line) so that you don't snag other people. I prefer shore fishing and catching 1 fish that puts up a good fight than 50 that come straight up. Seems like more just reeling than what I would classify "fishing".

Ok yea. I definately see the humor now. my whip lady (supposed to look like a casting rod) and the "Hooker" names and old people discounts for the Head Boat...haha. i made my self giggle looking back.
