There is no way I would dream of endangering anyone's life by doing something as stupid as that - and I don't even drink! But that includes driving while tired, not paying full attention (i.e., cellphonecauliflowerear) and trying to read the newspaper while driving at 60+ mph. I'm sure there are plenty of other violations but these are just the ones I've personally witnessed.

Sounds like they are nabbing a few people tonight at the sobriety checkpoint - already busted 2 people and then I heard this one:

4-12 packs of Milwaukee Ice
1/5 of Kentucky Gentleman with seal broken
12 empty cans on floor

And this is one vehicle!

I've bartended for over 15 years but I cannot recall ever hearing anything about this holiday until 4-5 years ago. Is this a new one to me?

Yes. This is actually entertaining. They apparently have a trooper posted further north (towards Rt. 4) who is running surveillance of the incoming cars to the checkpoint and warning the guys about this car and that car.

One just made an attempt at the turn lane to bypass the checkpoint. Another one went onto the shoulder. It is interesting to listen to!

Yep, just went through it a lil while ago. They usually have officers before the checkpoint on both sides to catch those who try to avoid it.
