Talking Name That Bird?

Every spring when it finally warms up a bit this interesting bird comes out of hiding and squawks late into the night. While I usually only hear one of these birds squawking in one area, I've heard up to two some past summers.

I wish I knew how to describe the sound. It goes...wop wop, wop wop (over and over and over). I've never seen it before and don't know how to go about researching it. Since I was a child I've always imagined some funny looking, long feathered bird Does anyone know what type of bird this might be?

From what I've read so far maybe it is a Chuck Will's Widow?

Are you sure you're not thinking of Cindy Lauper, She Bop?

Maybe this bird is a "whirlybird".
