Blue Angels at Andrews 16-18. Anbody ever been?

Anybody ever had any experience trying to go up on Saturday to see the Blue Angels at Andrews Air Force Base? I know they have buses from Branch Ave and Fedex field. I don't think you can drive on the base. Any advice?

It's the Joint Forces Open House and it always a tremendous time. I've been going since I was a small child..my dad's USMC Retired. Haven't been in a few years because of the parking and bus rides. But if you've never been, you should go.

I go just about every year. I organized a couple of them there ('93 and '94). Best project I ever was a part of.

'94 was the last year they had hot air balloons, sorry they disappeared off of the calendar (I still keep in touch with those folks). '93 was the first year we brought Sean Tucker on. Highly encourage watching this guy, he's the best in the business IMO.

edit: here's video of the '93 coverage of the balloons.

Sorry Peter, got carried away with the tread title and didn't answer your question. Only DoD card holders can get their vehicles on the base on either day. Here's a link that tells a little more.

We took the kiddos last year and had a blast.
We found that the parking at Fedex field and the bus ride to the base was a good deal, it was well organized and we had no troubles gettting in or out.
Bout pizzed my pants when I saw a B-52 Stratofortress on static display.
First time I'd ever seen that particular bird that close up.

Hey im from morningside too
I havent been to an airshow on andrews since I moved to calvert in 89. They used to be so much fun. Remember how they would practice on friday and it sounded like they were ripping the roof off the school?
