I'm playing catch up so sorry if someone has said this before....

She did have at least one miscarriage, maybe two. The fact that she was on birth control contributed to that. When she realized that the b/c causes an fertilized egg to fail to implant creeped them out so much they refused to use it anymore.

Happy Mother's Day: Woman pregnant with 18th child

By JILL ZEMAN, Associated Press Writer 5 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child.

Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.

"We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.

The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.

Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.

The new show looks at life inside the Duggar home, where chores — or "jurisdictions" — are assigned to each child. One episode of the new show involves a "jurisdiction swap," where the boys do chores traditionally assigned to the girls, and vice versa, Duggar said.

"The girls swapped jurisdictions, changing tires, working in the garages, mowing the grass," she said. "The boys got to cook supper from start to finish, clean the bathrooms," among other chores.

Duggar said she's six weeks along and the pregnancy is going well. She and her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, said they'll keep having children as long as God wills it.

"The success in a family is first off, a love for God, and secondly, treating each other like you want to be treated," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."

The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jennifer, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 16; Jessa, 15; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 7; James, 6; Justin, 5; Jackson, 3; and Johannah, 2.

How can you say she's lost her mind? The Duggars are a very happy family and I admire them for what they've been able to accomplish. The parents are happy, the kids are happy. They have a very large family and I think they are cool. Someone said they were sheltered from real life. Wow! What a stupid comment. These kids are forced to learn real values like having to work together, sharing, making sacrifices, making the right choices. They are homeschooled and not exposed to a bunch of other problem kids in public school but I bet they turn out to be much better adults than most of the kids who are going to public school.

For those who think the Duggars are strange....keep an eye out. There are 17, soon to be 18 kids. I would bet none of them will ever have a problem being addicted to alcohol, drugs. None of them will have babies outside of marriage or get arrested.

Our country would be in much better shape with familes like the Duggars. I don't think many of us could pull this off but they are admirable. If their family bothers you, you must be jelous or just stupid. Why would these wonderful people bother you?

I saw the specials on DSCH(?) and TLC and I think they are a bit strange and will take you up on that bet of addiction, babies out of wedlock and arrested. They do seem cultish, who knows whats gonna happen when one of them leaves the family on their own

Not many big families out there these days but you can't knock it.

Reminds me of The Waltons...

My issue with them is why do they insist upon making a public spectacle of their and their children's lives?
If someone wants to have a big family, certainly none of my business until they make sure they are blasted all over the media. "Ooh honey, it's been 9 months since J----- has been born lets have another so we can get in the paper again".
I just feel like they are turning their own family into a circus freak show (OK I am being dramatic for effect there) so they can continue to rake in the $$ from their TV show.

If people want to pay them to be on TV, why not? The TV people said "here's this pile of money. Can we film you?" Would you really say no?

It's not a freak show like the Osbourne's was.

I say more power to them. I could never do it, but it's great for them.
