Wow. Kids asked to "help" this kid and not make "unkind" remarks??? BWAHAHAHA..: Kids must have changed quite a bit since I went to grade school. I remember kids being tormented and beat all to hell just for looking a little bit goofy. Kids probably can be threatened into not kicking his swishy little ass but I can't imagine them not ostrasizing him, good luck finding anyone to sit with in the lunchroom princess. I feel sorry for this kid, I can't imagine choosing this path is going to make his school years easier than just keeping his secret to himself and not crossdressing at school. He just put a big target on his back along with that dress.

thats why the counseling is going to be done.
to help them deal with a weird situation.
nobody is saying they have to accept it, just be tolerant, just like in your 45 yo reality.

Typically 8 year old's are far more tolerant and rarely ever give a crap about kids being different until they are told by adults that those differences are wrong and should be ridiculed. JMHO.

And for the record, we knew from kindergarten who all the gay kids were in the school. It didn't take a rocket scientist or an adult to point out that these kids were different. We just didn't know what gay meant until the older kids "educated" us. It still wasn't a big deal.

I find that my 8 year old is quite tolerant. If she asks a question, I answer it honestly and without bias so she can digest it in her own way.

Does this child have a pehnis and a vagina???~?~?~

If the child has both sex organs, it's his right to choose which he wants to be, if he chooses a single sex at all.
I think it's the parents that are rushing to have a choice made and they are totally out of line in asking that the whole school make accomodations for one child.

Let me splain it again for those who did not read it when I answered it the FIRST time.....

THE STORY WAS ON THE COVER OF THE ENTERPRISE..That is a newspaper for those in St. Mary's county. IMHO that qualifies it to be posted. This post just follows the same story line in a different state....

that aside, if this kid was in your child's class at school, wouldn't you want to know (they did send out a letter), and wouldn't you think professional counseling might help them to understand that just becasue little joey/julie is crazy, that they dont have to be?

I dont see counseling as a bad thing.

oh and Fodd Critic,
do you know how i know you are gay?
cuz you spend all your time reading and writing about them
That's right U got me. Or maybe this us just a pattern of un-reported stories that go on all around us (intentionally so) and that very few people ever know about it. These parents are unfit.

I could respond with some silly retort like "gee in know your gay bacause you take these posts so personally"...I likes to keep it real that way..ya know.
