Your the idiot here. I would've just pulled to the shoulder once I got off the bridge and let her pass. It's not worth getting pissed off about or getting in an accident over if somebody's that hard up about getting around you. You never know what some of these crazy drivers are going to do.
YOU ARE PROBABLY ONE ONE OF THOSE TAILGATERS, I FIGURE. IF I'M DOING THE SPEED LIMIT AND YOU WANT TO KISS MY BEHIND, I'LL GRANT YOUR WISH. THERE'S NO RULE IN DRIVING THAT YOU HAVE TO CLOSE THE GAP IN FRONT OF YOU.

although I am also guilty of the brake jam for tailgaters, I will agree that it may not be the most intellegent way to go.

On the other hand, your theory of not worrying about whats behind you and just being concerned with in front is a bit of an issue too, you are wrong.
when you have a tailgater behind you, the safest thing to do is to slow down and give yourself extra room in front to stop if need be. Since the tailgater is driving without a brain, it becomes your job to try and make it so your stopping gives them time to react.

now all that being said, didnt residentforce have a cup of coffee to share with her friend?

Bigot.

I don't jam my brakes. I gently tap them so my car does not stop, but they have to lay on their brakes. That is a fun thing I enjoy doing.

Tapping your brakes to get someone off your tail is just as retarded as tailgating someone

Why would that be retarded? It's just letting somebody know that they are drifting to close, just in case they are putting on mascara or too busy with their cell phones to notice. Unless you are so close at back of the car in front of you where you could no longer see the brake light, then there's no risk to tap brake.

I don't need a new car, but I play that game, too. Downshift, wait for the tailgater's eyes to widen as they realize they've gotten WAY too close, and just about the time they hit their brakes I get back on the gas. Since I've already downshifted, the engine is revved up and I can instantly put distance between us. Works every time.

And before anybody asks, I typically do about 10 over the limit so there's no good reason to tailgate me. If I'm not going fast, it's because there's somebody ahead of me and I refuse to tailgate them.

i have to agree here, people are crazy lunatics these days. case and point, i was leaving cre yesterday around 5pm or so, the rousby hall exit, when i started to proceed onto the road, when this car going at least 90mph came zooming thru. i luckly realized how fast he was going, and did not pull out, however, the car turning left into cre did not see him, the speeding car had to slam on the brakes and swurve around him. then as i made my turn, the speeding car pulled to the shoulder and turned around very quickly(gravel flying) and went after the car turning into cre, not sure what happened after that but i was on rousby hall within a few min's and 3 unmarked polices cars came flying down toward that way, so i was thinking that the speeder may have pulled a knife or gun or something. he was def going after that person. and when i read the thread this morning that read, shooting in cre, i thought omg, he did shoot that person. it sadly turned out to be a domestic shooting, but once again never get into arguments with people over road issues, you just never know who may take it too far.

This message is for you.....

When I tapped my brakes the first time.. that should have been a warning.... to back off

When I slowed down it was to go ahead and let you in the back seat since that's obviously what you had in mind....

I feel I should tell you [in case you are actually the author of the "propoganda" thread in this forum...] I am a heterosexual female and you are simply not my type.... so back the f off....

Oh and incase you missed it at the KMART driving school you obviously graduated from....Tailgating is not considered safe driving practice....

If you didn't drive so slow you wouldn't have this problem.
