Police arrived on the scene and he took off on foot towards the Ranch Club. They have a perimeter set up and Trooper 7 on the way to look for him. What if the robber with the knife had been out there instead of the cops? Stay locked inside where you know it's safe rather than march outside during a man hunt to make certain your van is locked? Who cares whether the van is locked? Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
