Maybe I'm just not curious enough but when I see cops cars, helos, and search lights I stay buttoned up in my house. One thing that living IN Lexington Park has taught me is to never let your guard down. Soon as I get in my car I lock the doors and when I get out of it, they're locked. If I'm in the yard working, the house doors are locked and the keys are in my pocket and I never do yard work with my back to the street. Helluva way to have to live but it's a fact of life in the neighborhood.

Well, I figured I'd hedge my bet by walking out to the street while the police cruiser was in front of my house....if the freak wanted to come get some while I'm standing beside a cruiser with two armed officers, so be it. That would quickly escalate to his problem, not mine ;)

For over 20 years the Ranch Club has been the "go to"
place for criminals. It has limited access, roads that are
almost impassable to regular autos such as police cars,
thick vegetation (the "tree huggers" don't want to cut
anything to spoil the "naturalness" of CRE), the CRE has
no real police force ("security" is limited to riding around
giving the appearance of protection) and the Ranch Club
"government" wrings its hands and cries "oh no" when an
incident takes place in their "pristine" community.

The Ranch Club has been famous for such things as rapes,
murders, car-jackings, crack houses, vandalism, assaults,
burglaries, drug distribution rings, stolen property distribution
rings, juvenile crimes and runaways and suspicius fires. The
ratio of incidents as compared to the region around CRE is
much, much higher. Check the statistics!

The county sheriffs exhibit no desire to patrol in CRE on a
regular basis and the state only goes in there on request
even though both agencies are aware if the criminal element
concentration there.

The Ranch Club has even been noted as a state "Crime Hot
Spot" and "token money" has been sent in for such "crime-
fighting" measures as "afterschool reading activities for kids"
and other "feel-good programs". Years back, an abortive
attempt at crime fighting was made by CRE when they took
some of their own funds and hired a contract deputy and
even bought a vehicle and equipment for her to use. The
deputy, however, thought she could do more good by running
radar in Dunkirk while on the clock for CRE and the sheriff at
the time (whose political mantra was "there is NO gang activity
in Calvert County") proceeded to consistently take the deputy
out of CRE during her paid tours and schedule her elsewhere in
the County.

The County's attitute (and the state as well) is that "if the bad
people are in CRE, then they are not out in the general area
bothering the rest of the voters, so we'll just let them be". No
real efforts are made to contain or prevent crimes in CRE. Token
efforts are made to keep the voters in CRE happy, but that is
about it.

So the news that CRE is a great place for "bad guys" to hide out
is well known around the region. Look at how many are wanted
in other counties and even DC. Other counties are even aware
of this as PG even has Section 8 houses within CRE and sends
their unwanteds to CRE to get them out of their area. Smart move!
Now someone else has to put up with the criminal activity, the
burden of them on the schools, roads, health care and justice
system. All PG has to do is cut a check once a month. The
landlords in CRE just collect the guaranteed rent checks and not
worry about anything else.

If the "law enforcement agencies" were really serious about crime
prevention and solving, they would devote some of the hundreds
of thousands of dollars that they spend on traffic enforcement on
investigation and apprehension of criminals. The state has a
Forward Looking Infrared Radar that can see through trees and
vegetation and dark, yet they can't find a person running in broad
daylight from a crime scene. The County says they are underfunded
for police work, yet they can saturate an intesection with as many
a 6 men and cars to write traffic tickets and they can spend money
on a FIRE TRUCK for the Sheriff Department!

The Ranch Club ALSO hides its head in the sand and repeatedly says
"everything is just peachy" in their "prisitine" community, yet even the
CRE buildings and equipment constantly fall victim to vandalism and
theft. In some instances RELATIVES of the SECURITY personnel were
found to be committing crimes in CRE. Yet if a homeowner is to trim a
bush or cut a tree in order to eliminate a hiding place for a burglar, or
build a fence to protect their hard-earned belongings, THEY are fined
and prosecuted by the CRE "government".

Common sense and practicality have gone out the window. The honest,
hard-working homewner's rights are overshadowed by the criminal's
"rights" and the "environmental concerns" of the "community".

WAKE UP PEOPLE!
