I would like to know if anyone would know how to get rid of the cat leash law in charles county. Its such a stupid law. My mom has 4 cats (thanks to my sister and I) and now she is having to get rid of them. Her cats are treated like royalty. The are indoor and outdoor cats and have been for 20 years, she's lived in her townhosue for 20 years. they have never caused any type of problem for anyone until now. A person near her called animal control because one of the cats went to the bathroom in thier flowers. My mom knows everyone around her so she thinks its the new people that just moved in next door.

So because of this she feels that she can't have the cats anymore and is very upset/depressed over it. They are all that she has there since I have moved out of state and my sister is not nearby. I am very upset over it and would like to get this resolved so that she doesn't have to get rid of the cats. I would take a cat but I am not allowed to have pets in the house i'm renting right now. and my sister already has a zoo of pets. If anyone could help with any information at all I would greatly appreciate it. if you have any questions let me know, I have to leave for the good job now so I hope I covered everything. Have a great day!!

Here is just one link to the many found on the internet that has information about outdoor enclosures for cats. They come in many sizes and prices or plans on how to build one yourself. If your mom isn't too good with projects she may consider contacting a handyman or builder to help. Also, a boy scout troop may take it on as a project. I've known many troops that have helped in this way. Hope she takes the time to do the right thing by the cats and not just get rid of them as her first option. She will have happy, healthy cats if she keeps them from wandering.

I wish they had that law in Montgomery County when we lived there. The neighbors cats were always getting into our yard and killing the birds we were feeding. When I tried to get my neighbor to rein in her nuisances, I was told in no uncertain terms that t was none of my f***ing business, I just told her then that she was dictating to me what I could have in my yard and what I couldn't. She said you have dogs...which I replied, they are kept in the house, and when outside, in a fenced yard. Her next answer was that cats were natural wild creatures and hence allowed to roam free wherever.
I just got one of those trapper crates and turned her cats over to AC.
Neighbor didn't talk to me anymore, but so what.

I keep my cat on a line because of the traffic in front of my house and my neighbors poison ivy patch. She purrs like motor when I put it on her. I was really glad I use a line the day she took off after a fox that trotted though my yard.

Perhaps if the cats can't adjust to the leash your mom could use one of these to enjoy some fresh outside air with the kitties: http://www.luclin.org/files/blades/cat_carrier.jpg

Isn't is amazing how fast the pet owner changes their tune & thought process when you have control of their free-range animal?? I dealt w/ a pack of dogs a few years ago. The owner thought it was so cute how adventurous her "boys" were & the stuff they got into.. They were her little rascals.. It was cute until they started not coming home one by one, till there was none..

I keep traps set 24-7 on my property just for free-rangers.
If it has a collar, I'll release it. If it doesn't have a collar, I'll release it.

What's the point of the traps if you release everything?

You fling them really hard away from the hard and if they hit a tree you do not have to worry about resetting the trap.
