Yeah, it sucks being tight on cash. I didn't have much help with college classes since I'm healthy (rather not blind, deaf, have M.S., etc.), I'm white, under the age of 30, and do not choose to be a nurse (yeah, I checked all the government funds/scholarships out there, nothing!). I'm going up the ladder with what I have. It's not easy, but it can be done with little to no help from others. My suggestion is try to get a job other than in a kitchen/resturant, something where you experience can be transferred to a new/better job. I had a college professor who was a lawyer who once told me she would hire a person with real-life experience over book knowledge any day! | |

| I was wondering, but got sidetracked and forgot to ask.

| Calvert doesn't really suck. People just don't always know where to look.

| Or yellow pages? OR Did you always expect someone else to do your legwork and research for you? You may want to work on some motivation instead commiserating with someone of Blackies ilk. Quote:

| Justa... you may want to throw out my advice on this one but... Getting into counseling requires a lot of prep....and it can be enormously draining...and costly just to get the authorized funding. Go into Teaching...just take 2 semesters of a science curriculum, some methodology classes. and Boom: EVERY school needs science teachers. Starting in the mid 40's. Want to still go into counseling?: after teaching for two years,...mix with the guidance department and have the state help pay for further classes so they you can move into guidance in a few years. Anyway...that might be a backdoor approach without digging a huge hole paying for a PhD.
