Bike to work?!

Anybody bike to work? I was thinking about it but I figured this area needs more bike trails, like what they are currently building in Northern Virginia. Anybody know of any plans to build more bike trails for commuters?

Isn't there a bike lane all the way down 235?

I recently started. Mosts motorists have been great. A few don't realize that a bicycle is a vehicle with full rights to use the road. A really big fat lady smoking a cigarette yelled at me the other day for riding in a lane through Wildewood on my commute home from work. Figures.

I don't think that there is any money left anywhere to build new bicycle trails. Ain't going to happen. Hopefully there will be funds for motorist/bicycle share-the-road safety training.

I've been commuting for a couple years now, depends on where you live 235 has a bike lane. And if you really want to keep track of your miles and calories mapmyride.com has a awsome program.I'm doing 7miles one way right now but by the end of july I will be doing 25 miles one way. From mechanicsville to the base.

Hubby bikes to work everyday. We are only 2.75 miles from his office. Good exercise for his ticker!

My commute is a little over 14 miles each way. I try to stay off of 235 because of the bike-lane crossovers that confuse the crap out of motorists. (Let's see, the bicycle is all the way over on the right side of the turning lane... so they must be turning right... when in fact they are intending to go straight and have to move well-left in the turning lane to do so.) Also... Chancellors Run is a death trap for cyclists in my opinion. So I go the back way on Indian Bridge. It adds a couple of miles but I think that it is safer for me.
