Emergency Appeal for Blood Donors

Low donation rates throughout the summer have caused the community blood supply for all blood types to drop to a crisis level. All eligible donors are encouraged to call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) to schedule a blood donation appointment immediately. Platelet donors may call 1-800-272-2123. If you are interested in hosting a blood drive, please call 1-800-787-9282 ext.4925 for more information. In response to the appeal, the American Red Cross is expanding hours at local donor centers. Please visit Welcome - American Red Cross Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region for the current hours and blood drive schedule.

I'm type O+ but I'm restricted from donating because of dinkiness and recent tattoos and piercings :(

Ugh, me too. I tried to donate once, they had the trailers at Home Depot (maybe it was Lowe's, o'well) so I filled out all the paperwork and waited in line for almost 20 minutes for them to call my name only to be told I was two pounds under...TWO!! Okay, so I walk back to my car and it's pouring outside, POURING, when I hear them calling my name. So I run back over, in the rain, and they ask me to sign some release form. Dayum!! I was DRENCHED!! What's two friggin pounds gonna do? I doubt I'd pass out or anything, they must not be that short on blood...
