If it weren't for these people there would BE no organization. So Bernie, take a deep breath and know that there are some out there that know what you're going through.
Ok. Again. Please note the time I have spent as a customer. I understand that you have volunteers, but the last time I checked, they were all adults. I think that all adults should respect on another in a conversation, and as you can see from the responses here, that is not happening in SMYS. The overall attitude of disrespect from the people in power is trickling down to the paying customers. In the past, I and my fellow parents have had our special requests granted. We understand that it can not always happen. But you think that a kid that has been on the same team for four seasons could stay on her team. It seems like someone dropped the soccer ball and is blaming us for expecting the same experience we have had in the past.

So this is all because little Billy wasn't the exception and didn't get to pick his team?

Well then if you don't like how the "people in power" are handling things, then by all means you can step up and become a board member. If you don't like the way things are run, step up yourself and make a change. Until you have done it you have no idea how difficult it is. You can't make everyone happy.

I bet you don't have kids. Part of the experience is making friends.

I can change other adults behavior That is amazing. You can change your co workers attitude by just being there?

In my experience the disrespect tends to flow(not trickle)upward to the board from the parents. The key to your statement is "special requests". I am NOT involved with soccer in any way; but I can tell you that "special requests" have to stop for two reasons. First, we can't accomodate everyone and if we do it for one.........etc. Second I don't know how many times I have seen these requests made for nefarious purposes. Coaches talking to talented kids' parents, is the most common example:

"Tell the board that your kid needs to catch a ride with me or he can't play".

It sounds to me like the board is breaking up a juggernaut and someone's not happy that her child will have to play with and not against "lesser talent"

Making friends is harder to do on one team than another?

Nope you can't change someone elses behavior BUT you can join the board and be there to make decisions. Honestly I am sick of parents whining about the way VOLUNTEERS handle things. If you don't like it volunteer yourself.
