Soccer? All of this over soccer?

My 5 yr old played for SMYS last season because Calvert didn't have an "under 6" league. I was happy that games were in one place but other than that, it was ok. I am happy that this Fall, he can start playing for Calvert. It seems the best soccer organization (at least in my opinion and experience) is CSA. Both my sons have played CSA in the Spring and I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, if it was football...maybe. Lacrosse, definitely. But soccer...just plain sad.

And do you see all the negative responses? Why is not ok to expect an organization to do what it advertises that is will do?

I get to pay $65 and get to be verbally slapped by someone just because they are a volunteer?

I guess you all like to be talked down to and it is ok with you.
Been dealing with soccer for almost 5 years. I have never been talked down to by anyone in the group. Maybe it has to do with how I treat them. You give respect and you get it back...........

Ummm, am I missing something here??? As long as the kid is registered, placed on a team, gets to play and learn about soccer then nothing else matters in my opinion. I wouldn't even acknowledge "special requests", they have no place or merit. This is not professional teams we're talking about, it's an extracurricular kids sport. And if you want some say over how things are done then get yourself off your butt and become a volunteer. Oh don't even get me started, I could go on about this ridiculous subject. If the point is not for your child to get some excercise, learn a sport and sportsmanship then take him/her someplace where your inflated view of them matters.

I thought ever year teams change. I Don't care what team my kids play for as longs they get to play. Each year they will get to meet new kids.

If your child wants to stay with one group of kids, you could have them try out for travel soccer. While I agree that special requests probably shouldn't be allowed, there are some benefits to playing on the same team with the same kids. They learn a little more about strategy and how their team members play the game... sorry - but it also weeds out the kids whose parents make them play & they just want to play in the dirt & pick grass.

My kids belong to the CSHA and they just love it. They only have one loosely organized team in the Calvert Soccer Hooligan Association, but they all get to play hooligans against the actual soccer players. It's a scream! All the screaming that is!
