Misty,

If for some reason you do get him back it might be time to chip him.

You are right about that. I need to get some type of tracking device.

I beat myself up because we don't have a fence and can't afford one right now. A fence would help but if the kids leave the gate open, he will run again. We had a problem before when my two year old discovered how to open the doors and was just letting him out. I purchased door knob covers which helped with that. I just hope we get him back.

I would look into something like a chicken-wire mesh fence. The 24" tall stuff is very inexpensive. You can also go to Lowes and get tomato stakes for about $1-2 each. You can make him a little enclosure for hardly any money, and it'll be short enough for the humans to step over it.

we put up babygates in the kitchen so my Yorkie and Shih Bichon couldn't get out...they were the 2 foot chickenwire type...they both figured out they could hurdle them and get out....so we had to get them a big crate to stay in...

Some dogs don't jump. My sister kept her 2 small dogs in with a chicken-wire temporary. It's just an idea since she didn't have any money. They also sell 3' mesh fence. Either way, there are options for cheap fencing.

Would anyone notice a small enclosure at the back of the house?

The rules of cre have turned the neighbors against each other. They will call and turn them in.

I will not LOL
We have a good street, we all get along, that wouldn't be an issue.
