places to rent

I was wondering where the best place to rent was around the Pax River base? I have someone looking for a place to live with atleast 2 bedrooms for no more than $900 per month. I was wondering if anyone knew which appartments to stay away from and which ones are good, or if anyone knew someone renting for around this price, thanks in advance.

Which base? My husband is stationed at Andrews and we live in North Beach. We LOVE it here. You may be able to find a 1 bedroom around that price range, but there aren't really apartments around here...you'd have to rent a home, which has its perks! Let me know if I can help at all :)
militarybyowner.com is a good place to check :)

There are certainly apartments/areas to stay away from!! Hopefully someone will chime in that actually has lived here for a long time because I am a military transplant as well... we just decided we were going to stay down here (hubby decided to get out when his time was up) and there are areas to stay away from for sure, I just can't think of the specific ones.

I don't want to say stay away from Lexington Park - because there are 'decent' areas (and there are addresses that are Lexington Park that aren't really in the 'central' area - we have friends that have nice houses in decent neighborhoods and their address is Lexington Park but they aren't in a horrible area) BUT you want to stay away from the 'central' area of LP. And there are some apartment complexes in that area - I don't know the name of them - that you wouldn't want to be in if you can rent/afford something else!

Someone will chime in with the names of specific apartment complexes/neighborhoods to stay away from... so keep checking the thread, I'm sure someone will have the answer for you.

The greens are nice but I have no idea what they rent for.

I just moved out of St. Mary's Landing. I lived there for 2 years and I'm glad i'm gone. It wasn't too bad depending on what building you live in. I couldn't count how many times the cops were there, or the Medivac helo for that matter. I can recommend Abberly Crest though. A friend lives there and I must say it is the nicest apartment complex in the area by far.

You are pretty much out of luck for a 2 bedroom for $900 unless you rent from someone privately... I had a 600 sq/ft 1 bedroom in Hickory Hills and that place was ok... It was $1100/month...

That's not true. I rented a 2 bed 2 bath in Indian Bridge Apartments a while back for $850/month. I think the price has gone up a little since, but not much. It's Lexington Park, but it's right next to Great Mills High School and has minimal crime.

I liked it. People were generally nice, and I had nice neighbors. Just ran into one the other day that gave me a hug :)
